In 1996 Noerine joined the newly created Joint United Nations Programme on HIV\/AIDS (UNAIDS) in Geneva where she served ten years as adviser on partnership and community mobilization. She is currently an independent consultant based in Uganda, and has served on the boards of many international organizations.
