The introductory chapters give a brief introduction to Greenland; history, politics, climate, geography, biology, etc. followed by a description of the ornithology in Greenland. Since the previous list, Canada Goose, Lesser Black-backed Gull and Redwing have established breeding populations and Bohemian Waxwing seems to be doing the same. Several new species have moreover occurred as vagrants in Greenland, including for example, two alcid species from the Pacific (probably a sign of climate change), several species from North America and from Europe. The taxonomy is updated according to international practice, which means that several subspecies from the previous list now are treated as species.
