Geraint, The Rebel's Son is the first novel written by Frederick Charles Davies under the pseudonym 'Charl Visby'. He was born in North Wales in 1925 so the publication of this book is quite an achievement for a ninety-three-year-old. Having lived and worked in Wales until his 40's, he and his family relocated to Chester in 1966. It was his association with North Wales and Chester which inspired this novel. His occupations have been varied; They include Post Office (boy messenger, counter clerk and sales); RAF (with service in Kenya); and a partnership in the family grocery store in Rhyl. He has travelled extensively; from Norway to South Africa, Alaska to New Zealand and visited many countries in between. People he has met have influenced his writing. He has been a great supporter and fundraiser for charities (British Heart Foundation) and hospices, i.e. Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford (near Chester), Hope House Children's Hospice in Morda (Oswestry) and more latterly Saint Mary's Hospice in Ulverston (Cumbria). His tradition of sending flowers to hospices weekly continues. Although he was a keen golfer, he could not surpass the level of golf attained by his late wife, Jean. He and Jean moved to Cumbria in 2007 to live with family, sadly Jean passed away in 2009. Frederick continues to write; Currently two further novels are complete and are being prepared for publication. He has also commenced a fourth novel.
