To this end, a bibliographical survey was carried out on import theories with a focus on Brazil. A historical retrospective was also carried out in order to highlight the strategic importance of the automotive sector for the country's economy. The study used input-output analysis, based on research by Guilhoto and Sesso Filho (2005), to estimate import multipliers based on the data available in NEREUS (2015).
