Noted for its natural beauty, clear, deep waters, and a variety of fish from perch to musky, the wooded shores offered pleasant opportunities for rest, recreation and camping. From the late 1870's to the 1970's, the Lake was a popular vacation spot for camping, fishing, and boating. People came from all over the tri-state area, which was a boon to town business.
