The natural products described are secondary metabolites from various plant species, such as alkaloids, flavonoids, lignoids, among others. This study therefore describes the identification and use of natural products that are currently being studied for the treatment of leishmaniasis. The research was based on a literature review (bibliographic research) of scientific articles, in which substances extracted from the world's flora, and especially from Brazilian flora, have been showing significantly positive results for alternative treatments acting against Leishmania.
