Finally, Max opens a private museum in a decommissioned industrial warehouse in Charlottenburg, which was visited by personalities of the time such as the archaeologist Max Mallowan with his famous wife Agatha Christie and the renowned Irish playwright Samuel Beckett.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfter the Nazis took power in 1933, Oppenheim's Jewish background became a potential threat, but with help of his scholar friends he was able to continue with his scholarly work.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn 1939, he once more traveled to Syria for excavations, coming within the sight of Tell Halaf.
