For a developing country like India, where memorising has been inculcated from childhood, the graduating student has difficulty in facing real world problems of a practical and technical nature. This being so, the big companies are hesitant to hire from all but a few top colleges and Universities, and that too only from the top percentiles. As a result, the Indian Industry has relied heavily on imported and licensed technology to a large extent. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eEfforts to build indigenous fighter aircraft, engines, software and O\/S have lagged far behind China, Taiwan and Japan, who were inferior in technology in the 1950's Part of the reason is the outdated syllabi of the Unversities, and part is due to the spoon feeding of the students in various forms.
