A \u003cbr\u003echild survivor of the Holocaust, I \u003cbr\u003elived for six years under the Nazi \u003cbr\u003eregime, and, as the only Jew in my \u003cbr\u003eschool, was harassed by my Hitler \u003cbr\u003eYouth classmates on a daily basis. \u003cbr\u003eIn November 1938, my father \u003cbr\u003ewas shipped off to concentration \u003cbr\u003ecamp, and I witnessed the destruction of my home by Nazi \u003cbr\u003ethugs. A few months before the outbreak of World War II, \u003cbr\u003eI escaped to England with the famous Kindertransport and, \u003cbr\u003ewhen the bombs began falling on London, I was evacuated \u003cbr\u003ewith my school and lived for a year with an English foster \u003cbr\u003efamily. In 1940, at the height of the Atlantic U-boat \u003cbr\u003ecampaign, I sailed for New York with my parents. After \u003cbr\u003eservice in the U.S. Army, I worked my way around the west \u003cbr\u003eat hard labor jobs, then studied at Columbia and Princeton, \u003cbr\u003eand ultimately became an international patent lawyer. My \u003cbr\u003eoriginal ambition, to become a novelist, was not fulfilled. \u003cbr\u003eI live in Rockville, Maryland, am divorced, and have two \u003cbr\u003echildren and two grandchildren. I have traveled widely and \u003cbr\u003econsider myself a citizen of the world. In my 80s now, I \u003cbr\u003eam active in The ManKind Project, a mens organization \u003cbr\u003econducting transformational trainings on four continents, as \u003cbr\u003ea community leader, group facilitator and mentor. Having \u003cbr\u003ebeen honored by my German home town, and having \u003cbr\u003eexperienced reconciliation with my former Hitler classmates, \u003cbr\u003eI now speak widely on that subject, and conduct a workshop \u003cbr\u003ecalled The Power of Forgiveness.
