Ethiopia had a state church since the fourth century. Alexandria was the intellectual capital of the early faith. The men who built Christian theology, Tertullian, Origen, Athanasius, Augustine, were African.

That history was buried. This book puts it back.

The Gospel Before the Empire walks through the evidence from the Hebrew Bible to the independence movements. It shows what colonial Christianity did, what it could not touch, and what African Christians did with a tradition their own ancestors helped build.

Written for anyone who was told the faith was foreign, and wants to know what the record actually shows.

Author: Evan Evans
ISBN-13: 9798189812910
Publisher: Independently Published
Language: English
Published: 07/30/2026
Pages: 382
Format: Paperback
Weight: 1.12lbs
Size: 9.00h x 6.00w x 0.85d
