James and Mary had at least eight children, named in the 1839 Petition for Sale or Division of land owned by James Daugherty in Greenville, South Carolina. Each child will be treated separately, with as much proof as it is possible to gather. This first volume discusses James Daugherty and Mary Stanford\/Standiford, and includes documents that were available for the researcher. The rest of the book will be about the first child of James and Mary, Sarah who married Thomas Lynch. The other children will be discussed in forthcoming books. There are some families that are more prominent in this book than others.
