The main occupation of the site took place between the late first century B.C. and the early second century A.D. Between 1987 and 1994, a consortium of four European expeditions conducted extensive excavations at Ed-Dur. One of the members of the consortium was a Belgian expedition led by Prof. Ernie Haerinck of the University of Ghent. Prof. Haerinck and his team spent nine seasons at Ed-Dur and this monograph describes and discusses the 122 fragmentary and intact glass vessels that they recovered. The majority of the glass was imported from the eastern provinces of the Roman Empire.
