Having arrived on this planet in 1946, Martin spent his early years on various farms, during which time he grew to love the countryside and all things rural. After a fairly mediocre time at school, he joined the British Army as a mounted trooper in the Household Cavalry. He travelled to Australia in 1969 and spent a while as a Jackaroo in the outback. Returning to England, he spent his mid and later life as a jack of all trades in the building industry. Now retired he lives in the Sussex countryside with his wife Lyn. Apart from writing poetry, Martin enjoys rock and roll dancing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
