A Cow That Smells Like Pineapples (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798997426002)

What if growing up didn't have to mean losing the magic of being little?

Lia lives in a world where something peculiar happens as people grow older: little by little, their colorful worlds turn to stone. Flowers stop blooming, stuffed animals stop talking, dreams grow quiet, and before long, Lia finds herself becoming a little stony too.

Then she meets Moodee.

Moodee isn't just any cow. She's cheerful, charismatic, wonderfully unexpected-and, most importantly, she smells like pineapples! Wherever Moodee's little hooves step, the stone seems to disappear and flowers begin blooming again.

Through an unlikely friendship, a ferocious hug, and one very special pineapple-scented cow, Lia begins to discover something she thought she had lost forever: the colorful, hopeful, wonderfully silly little girl still living inside her.

The Cow That Smells Like Pineapples is a whimsical, heartwarming picture book about growing up without letting the world harden your heart. Told with playful language, unexpected humor, and delightfully peculiar phrases, Lia's story is written to be just as much fun to read aloud as it is to hear. From black bean juice and dried-up poppywoks to clip-clopping hooves and pineapple-scented cows, the story embraces the wonderfully nonsensical way children see the world.

Rich, storybook-style illustrations bring Lia's changing world to life, using the contrast between colorful flowers and cold stone to tell part of the story visually. As Lia's world changes, so do the pages around her, giving young readers plenty to discover beyond the words themselves. The soft, hand-drawn feel and classic picture-book influence give the story a nostalgic warmth while still creating a world that feels playful and entirely its own.

And while little readers can enjoy Moodee's silliness, strange smells, funny words, and larger-than-life personality, there is another story tucked quietly underneath for the grown-ups reading beside them. Lia's journey asks what happens to imagination as we grow older-and whether the joyful, hopeful child we once were ever really disappears.

At once silly and sentimental, The Cow That Smells Like Pineapples celebrates friendship, imagination, resilience, and the people who remind us how to bloom again. It is a story about growing up without giving up wonder, finding color when the world begins to feel gray, and remembering that being a grown-up and keeping a childlike heart don't have to be opposites.

Perfect for families who love imaginative stories with deeper meaning, playful read-alouds, classic picture-book charm, and books that give children and adults something different to carry away from the very same pages.
