A Fool's Fortune

A Kara Ellison Mystery

Wedding bells are only weeks away when Kara Ellison's world is turned upside down. Her best friend, nineteen-year-old June Park, is kidnapped. A young man turns up dead. What begins as a desperate search soon leads Kara and Deputy Pat Ortiz into Harrow's Bend's oldest-and deadliest-legend.

For nearly a century, people have whispered about a payroll stolen in 1932 and a fortune that vanished somewhere beneath Blackwitch Mountain. Most dismissed it as folklore. Then June disappears, the body count rises, and the legend starts costing lives.

As old sheriff's files, forgotten diaries, and a missing mining claim begin pointing toward the same long-buried secret, Kara realizes the truth has been hidden even longer than the treasure. With time running out, she must unravel a mystery spanning generations before greed claims another victim.
