When Observation is clear, division ends. Life clarifies and possibility emerges.
In a world saturated with noise, distraction, and constant internal commentary, Observation reveals life more directly--before it is shaped by habit, belief, and assumption. When we meet life this way, thought settles. We are no longer pulled so easily or so unconsciously by reaction, memory, or expectation. In that clarity, Inspiration is not pursued--it is revealed.
In A Matter of Being, Steve Lewit draws on decades of lived, professional, and spiritual experience to explore Observation as a natural human capacity already present within us. Through Observation, we can live an Inspired Life where clarity replaces confusion, response replaces reaction, and action flows from an undivided center. It is life lived in freedom and wholeness--grounded, steady, and integrated in work, relationships, and daily responsibilities.
Rather than offering a path toward self-improvement, this book rests in a simple truth: When distortion falls away, we discover a wholeness that was never absent. From that discovery, an Inspired Life unfolds.
You are not asked to believe anything--only to look. What becomes clear from that looking is yours to discover.
Steve Lewit is a lifelong Observer of life, interested in the meeting place between clarity and confusion, action and stillness, the practical and the profound. His work arises not from theory or belief but from direct Observation--of himself, of others, and of the forces that shape human experience.
Professionally, Steve has lived fully in the practical world. He has been an opera singer, a competitive athlete, a business builder, and for many years a fiduciary financial advisor, helping individuals and families bring order and meaning to complex lives. His work in planning and advising is guided by the same attention and inquiry that inform his writing.
Alongside this, Steve has spent decades exploring philosophy and spiritual life, including extensive involvement in Sufi practice and contemplative inquiry. He has counseled and taught many, yet he does not now see himself as a teacher of methods or a purveyor of answers. What he offers instead is an invitation to see, to notice what is actually happening and to discover what naturally unfolds from that seeing.
Steve's writing reflects a simple conviction: that Observation itself is transformative, not because it fixes or improves us but because it reveals what is already true. He continues to live, struggle, inquire, and return to Observation, finding in it a source of clarity, inspiration, and quiet renewal.
He lives and works in the United States.
