Born and brought up in Patiala, as her grandmother and parents moved as professionals from Kerala, Shobhana Balakrishnan had an intercultural upbringing.

Married to a diplomat, she is widely traveled and has lived in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America.

Though she has a Master's degree in History, her literary instincts were stronger, and her shelves were lined with the likes of Tagore, Shakespeare, Tennyson, Wordsworth and Gibran amongst others. She has a few publications in the design magazine "Inside Outside," and some newspaper articles to her credit. Though writing for herself over the years has been her strength, this is her first independent publication.
