Amanda has a long standing interest and many years experience helping people change the way they eat to improve their health. She is a trained nutritionist and was previously the Executive Director of the New Zealand Dietetic Association and has also been PR Officer and media spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association. In addition, she has worked for New Zealand's Science Media Centre, focussing on health and nutrition issues. For many years Amanda ran a private dietetic practice speclialising in weight management, she has helped many people achieve substantial weight-loss goals. She is the author of The Power of Positive Eating, a guide to weight loss published in both New Zealand and in the UK, and is editor of the British Nutrition Foundation Task Force Report on Obesity a scientific report written by some of the world's leading experts in obesity. She is also co-author of Nutrition - a Handbook for Community Nurses. In addition, she has recently written scientific reports on the role of seafood in a healthy New Zealand diet and on the role of red meat in a healthy New Zealand diet. She is also a frequent media commentator on food-related issues.
