A Place Where Nothing Grows: And Other Anomalies (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798996977406)

Anomalies: deviations, distortions, departures from the sane, the safe, the sacred await...

Exploited deities, predatory localities, humanity in flux, A Place Where Nothing Grows is a dizzying ride through nightmarish expanses ranging from mildly unsettling to nakedly horrific.

Kids exploring their new home, an updated old Charleston Style Long

House, discover a small hole in the wall only they can see, brimming with ghostly fingers, and getting bigger. Something's wrong with Layla, maybe it's her mind, maybe it's her body, maybe it's both, either way there should be blood, flesh, bone under her skin, but there isn't. For a little extra money a man takes a job assembling weird machines for a nameless corporation, machines that might be dissolving the walls of reality, but in this economy who can blame him? Her parents think

she's possessed, she's not, but a sketchy preacher with a book that's definitely not a bible is trying to exorcise her anyway.

Told through a Black lens, these narratives center a diverse cast of

characters while exploring the many corners of Horror fiction including,

Cosmic, Body, Eco, Religious, and Afrofuturist Horror. Themes of identity, grief, parenthood, and powerlessness provide fertile ground for visceral

tales of bodies run amok, a world twisted by love as much as hate, and the depths of darkness within us all.

These deviant occurrences, anomalies, offer doorways to a stark truth: something is very, very wrong with this world.
