A Senior Year (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798295587962)

Welcome to Casa Descanso, a retirement community for the excessively solvent, where the golden years are anything but quiet.

Meet Alba T. Ross, a sharp-witted, retired CIA operative with a past she can't discuss and a future that's suddenly, uncomfortably, up for grabs. After a lifetime of global intrigue, reckless decisions, and telling outrageous lies for Uncle Sam, Alba has traded her go-bag for a permanent address in a San Diego retirement community for the excessively solvent.

But Casa Descanso or "Rest Home," as its ironic name translates is far from a peaceful pasture. It's a hotbed of simmering rivalries, geriatric romance, shocking secrets, and surprisingly high-stakes drama. From axe-throwing stress relief and disastrous talent shows to an "Indian uprising" led by the community's sole surviving tribal member, every day brings a new adventure.

Navigating this new world with her band of newfound friends the pragmatic "Bricks", Alba uses her spy-honed skills to observe the curious, hilarious, and often poignant realities of aging. There's Josie, with her killer charcuterie board and unwavering love for happy hour; Bella, a willowy Texan with a reckless streak on dating apps; Chris, a force of nature who can convert anything into real money; and Ora, a gentle soul who communicates primarily in poetry.

"A Senior Year" is a brilliantly observed, laugh-out-loud funny, and deeply moving novel about friendship, identity, and what it means to truly live when you're closer to the end than the beginning. For anyone who believes that life is too short to be taken seriously, this is your ultimate guide to seizing the moment, no matter your age.

Perfect for fans of A Man Called Ove and The Thursday Murder Club, this book proves that the most thrilling chapters of your life might just be the last ones.
