Description
xWhat if your dream wasn't impossible...just unexplained?
If you've ever dreamed of owning a simple beach house in the Bahamas, retiring on a tropical island, or escaping the grind without being a millionaire, this book was written for you.
Retired U.S. Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer Gerald Hoover takes readers step-by-step through the exact process he used to build a home on a remote Bahamian island. From choosing the right island and purchasing land to shipping materials, navigating Bahamian laws, building off-grid, and creating the financial freedom to make it all possible, this book removes the mystery from living the island dream.
Written with humor, honesty, and decades of firsthand experience, A Shack on a Beach Somewhere is part travel guide, part financial strategy, part construction manual, and part adventure story.
If you're serious about creating a life most people only daydream about, this book belongs on your shelf.
This is the complete blue-collar guide to buying land, building a home, and living affordably in the Bahamas. Perfect for people looking for:

Tropical lifestyle What others are saying about A shack on a Beach Somewhere:
5 stars "A detailed account of how to build a beach home on an out island of the Bahamas.
Lots of subtle humor and other fun stuff.
But the real story is one of what can be accomplished if you are determined and steadfast.
KUDOS!!" 5 stars "Jerry has written a great "how to book" that exceeds simply telling how to build an Island house. Extensively researched, very detailed with suggestions of what to do differently in the future and how to make everything happen, step by step. Wonderful read!"
