Absorb This Silence: High Desert Haiku

Poetry of the American Southwest, Nature, and Stillness (Subtitle for KDP only)

Absorb This Silence: High Desert Haiku is a luminous poetry collection that invites readers into the stark, sacred beauty of the American Southwest, where land, light, and stillness speak louder than words.

Written by award-winning poet Marta Knobloch and paired with minimalist, evocative illustrations by C.J. Lucien, this collection captures fleeting moments of desert life through the timeless discipline of haiku. Each poem is a meditation, a breath held between shadow and sun, between ancient earth and the present moment.

Rooted in the high desert landscapes of Taos, New Mexico, & the beautiful Southwest, these haiku explore themes of impermanence, resilience, solitude, and reverence. From wind-sculpted mesas and migrating birds to adobe shelters and celestial events, Knobloch's words honor both the visible world and the silence beneath it. The result is poetry that feels at once intimate and vast, spare, intentional, and deeply alive.

More than a book of poems, Absorb This Silence is a contemplative experience. It speaks to lovers of nature poetry, readers drawn to mindfulness and spiritual reflection, and anyone seeking quiet clarity in a noisy world. The collection also honors the cultural and ancestral legacy of the American Southwest, acknowledging the land as both teacher and witness.

Perfect for slow reading, gifting, meditation, or creative inspiration, this book is a keepsake, one that reminds us that silence is not empty, but full.

Let the desert speak.

Let the stillness remain.

Absorb this silence.
