Dr. Olivia P.C. Miller, a native of Statesville, North Carolina, has over 15-years of military, business management, and teaching experience. As a four-sport athlete (basketball, softball, volleyball, and cross-country), Dr. Miller learned the importance of competition, persistence, and passion. She believes that in each day there is a new opportunity. Self-growth is vital to achieve personal and organizational goals. Dr. Miller is an Army Veteran who received the "Outstanding Soldier Award," and is a certified Quartermaster. She also worked in leadership positions in several retail industries. She is currently an Adjunct Business Instructor at Catawba Valley Community College and has been teaching K-12 for 10 years. She focuses on the discipline of business for improved societal conditions. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated, Dr. Miller hopes to continue to mentor others at speaking and community service events. Dr. Miller obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix; and Doctor of Business Administration degree from Walden University. She published her dissertation, "Human Capital Strategies of Leaders in the Food Service Industry" (July 2017) in several academic journals. Dr. Miller hopes to conduct further research on small business sustainability. She served on the Black Communities: A Conference for Collaboration panel at UNC-Chapel Hill where she shared her expertise with aspiring business owners and community leaders. Through her writing, she hopes to inspire others based on her life experiences. From her "failing experiences" to overcoming emotional heartaches, she is taking time to tell her story. Her favorite quote is "If there is no struggle, there is no progress." (Frederick Douglass, 1857). Upon reading this book, she hopes others will experience a rejuvenating sense of self for personal growth.
