Born in Norway, Geir Lie is an independent researcher and holds a master's degree in Theology. He trained as a professor with a specialization in Christianity at the MF Faculty of Theology in Oslo. He is the author of several books, most of which deal with Pentecostalism from theological and historical perspectives. He is also co-founder of the Spanish-language journal: Hechos-una perspectiva pneumatológica.
