xThe Author: Joseph Carroll Jeter is an assistant professor of Foreign Languages currently on sabbatical to conduct literary and cultural research in Austria. He received his Ph.D. in German Language and Literature from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In addition to secondary- and university-level teaching, he has worked as a corporate tutor in Europe and as a newspaper literary reviewer. In 1993, he was affiliated with the Fulbright Commission as a Senior Scholar.
