The Editor: Hans Adler (1944) is Professor of German at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he teaches German literature and culture from 1700 to the present, continental philosophy, and aesthetics. His publications include several books and numerous articles on German literature and culture, with a focus on J.G. Herder, K.Ph. Moritz, aesthetics, 19th-century novel, G. Büchner, L. Otto, G. Grass. He is editor of Monatshefte. His most recent publication has been Synästhesie. Interferenz-Transfer-Synthese der Sinne (with Ulrike Zeuch; 2002).
