Aging Earth, Aging Self: How Environment Shapes Emotion and Aging (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798278243687)

Aging Earth, Aging Self is a reflective and insightful exploration of how personal transformation and planetary change often unfold in parallel. Through 25 clear, grounded, non-poetic chapters, Laura Bernardeschi Nelson examines aging, anxiety, resilience, and identity alongside the accelerating shifts in our climate.

Drawing from childhood memories in Italy, life transitions in the UK, hormonal changes, psychological stress, and the science of weather's influence on the human nervous system, Nelson creates a narrative that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
Her scientific explanations of how heat, storms, humidity, and environmental instability affect mood, cognition, and emotional health help readers understand themselves through the lens of the natural world.

The book concludes with a curated art portfolio: powerful mixed-media works addressing climate change, environmental fragility, and human connection to nature. Each piece becomes part of a larger conversation about responsibility, adaptation, and hope.

Aging Earth, Aging Self invites readers to reflect on how their own lives echo the rhythms of nature - changing, challenging, breaking, and repairing - and how understanding these parallels can foster strength and clarity in an unstable world.
