American Ripper: The Story of the Boston Strangler & Me (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781464279072)

He confessed to the most infamous murders in American history.

But what if he was lying?

Boston, 1962: It started with one woman found dead in her kitchen. Then another murdered in her bedroom. One by one, women across Boston were discovered brutally slain, their bodies posed deliberately for police officers to find. Terror gripped the city as the killer moved from neighborhood to neighborhood, identifying vulnerable women and striking at any opportunity. Then came a breakthrough in the investigation. The police named their suspect: a man named Albert DeSalvo, who confessed to the murders. Case closed. Or so everyone believed.

The final victim of the Boston Strangler was nineteen-year-old Mary Sullivan--author Casey Sherman's aunt. Decades after her death, having grown up with the stories of the beloved woman his family lost, Sherman begins his own investigation into Mary Sullivan's case. What he finds turns everything he thinks he knows about the Boston Strangler upside down. Sherman uncovers overlooked suspects, missing evidence, a questionable confession, and a growing number of victims from across America. The deeper he digs, the more he believes that DeSalvo may not have been the killer at all.

New York Times bestselling author Casey Sherman weaves his most gripping and personal narrative yet as he untangles the threads of the myth of the Boston Strangler. American Ripper is a true story of one family's search for justice after decades of unanswered questions about whether the real killer was never caught. Because if Albert DeSalvo didn't murder Mary Sullivan... who did?
