Ancient China Simplified by Edward Harper Parker is a comprehensive book that provides an overview of the history, culture, and society of ancient China. The book is divided into several chapters, each of which covers a different aspect of ancient Chinese civilization, including politics, religion, philosophy, art, and literature. The author begins by exploring the origins of Chinese civilization and the early dynasties that ruled the country. He then delves into the political and social structures of ancient China, including the role of the emperor, the bureaucracy, and the military. The book also covers the major religions and philosophical schools of thought that emerged in ancient China, such as Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. The author provides insights into the beliefs and practices of these religions and how they influenced Chinese society and culture. In addition, Ancient China Simplified discusses the art and literature of ancient China, including calligraphy, painting, poetry, and prose. The author provides examples of these works and explains their significance in Chinese culture.Overall, Ancient China Simplified is an excellent resource for anyone interested in learning about the rich history and culture of ancient China. The book is well-researched, easy to read, and provides a comprehensive overview of the subject matter. The upshot of it was that in 771 B.C. the Emperor was killed by the Tartars in battle, and it was only by securing the military assistance of the semi-Tartar Warden of the Marches that the imperial dynasty was saved. As it was, the Emperor's capital was permanently moved east from the immediate neighbourhood of what we call Si-ngan Fu in Shen Si province to the immediate neighbourhood of Ho-nan Fu in the modern Ho Nan province; and as a reward for his services the Warden was granted nearly the whole of the original imperial patrimony west of the Yellow River bend and on both sides of the Wei Valley. This was also in the year 771 B.C., and this is really one of the great pivot-points in Chinese history, of equal weight with the almost contemporaneous founding of Rome, and the gradual substitution of a Roman centre for a Greek centre in the development and civilization of the Far West. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
