She discovered a unique way to communicate with her brother by sending wishes to the universe in the hopes that something or someone would hear her and pass them on to him.

Ms. Beck takes a risk and informs Jimmy about wishing on the universe. His favorite teacher, he says, is cuckoo Cocoa Puffs. But what else can Jimmy do? He is desperate to hear from his brother and will go to any length to do so. He makes his wish.
