Animism, Magic and the Divine King (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781161388947)

Animism, Magic and the Divine King is a book written by Geza Roheim that explores the relationship between animism, magic, and the concept of the divine king. The book delves into the beliefs and practices of various cultures and societies, including the Australian Aborigines, the Native Americans, and the ancient Egyptians. Roheim argues that animism, the belief that all things have a spirit, and magic, the use of supernatural powers to achieve a desired outcome, are integral to the concept of the divine king, who is seen as a mediator between the spiritual and physical worlds. The book also examines the role of mythology and ritual in these cultures and how they contribute to the understanding of the divine king. Overall, Animism, Magic and the Divine King provides a fascinating insight into the complex and interconnected beliefs and practices of different cultures and their understanding of the divine.1930.
