He positioned himself on the edge of the seat so that his body didn't touch hers in the cramped seat; he was halfway into the aisle. He smelled of pine-scented aftershave. From the corner of her eye, she took in his stylish clothes: black jeans and a gray sports shirt. "Are you from around here?" she asked. "My family lives in Naggar-the old castle town before Manali. But I've been working in New Delhi for the last five years in an I.T. company. I'm headed north for a two-week holiday to see my elderly parents. And you? Which country do you come from?"
