John always wondered why he had to move around so much as a child, living with different families, after his parents died in the Spanish flu epidemic. Seventy years later, one of his sisters, Anna, sent him a 30-page letter telling her version of what had happened to them.
This book was transcribed from a handwritten, undated letter, circa 1990, to my father-in-law John from his sister Anna, known as Anne. Events described took place mostly in rural western Pennsylvania and in New York City in the 1920s, during and following the Spanish flu epidemic. The original spellings and punctuation have been largely retained, apart from adding paragraph breaks and commas as needed for readability. Thanks for subscribing!
