Anti-Calvinism (1881) (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781166542740)

Anti-Calvinism is a book written by August Pfeiffer in 1881, which provides a thorough critique of the teachings of John Calvin and the Calvinist theology. Pfeiffer argues that Calvinism is a flawed and dangerous doctrine that promotes a narrow and authoritarian view of Christianity. He challenges the Calvinist belief in predestination, arguing that it denies human free will and undermines the moral responsibility of individuals. Pfeiffer also criticizes the Calvinist doctrine of the sovereignty of God, which he believes leads to a fatalistic view of life and a lack of concern for social justice. Throughout the book, Pfeiffer offers a detailed analysis of the Calvinist theology, drawing on biblical and historical sources to support his arguments. He also presents his own vision of a more inclusive and compassionate Christianity that emphasizes the importance of human agency and social responsibility. Anti-Calvinism is a seminal work in the history of Christian theology and remains relevant today as a critique of fundamentalist and authoritarian forms of Christianity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
