This book is a compilation of two speeches that were delivered by the author in the summer of 1846. The speeches were given in Williston and Burlington, two towns in Vermont, and were focused on the topic of war.In these speeches, Gregory argues against the idea of war and the use of violence as a means of solving conflicts. He argues that war is not only destructive but also immoral and goes against the principles of humanity. Gregory also critiques the American government's decision to go to war with Mexico in 1846, which he sees as an unjust and unnecessary conflict. The book provides a historical perspective on the anti-war movement in the United States during the mid-19th century.
