As If In A Dream (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798242105140)

As If in a Dream is a poetry collection that drifts between waking life and the half-lit corridors of memory, where feeling arrives before language and truth often wears a disguise. In this book, Gimacus Burns writes from the soft edge of consciousness-where love is remembered more vividly than it was lived, where loss echoes like a song heard from another room, and where the ordinary world shimmers with quiet, unsettling beauty.

These poems move like fragments of a dream you don't want to wake from: intimate, elusive, and emotionally precise. Burns explores longing, impermanence, tenderness, and the strange humor found in heartbreak and survival. There is a musician's ear in every line-rhythm guiding thought, silence shaping meaning-allowing the poems to breathe, pause, and linger long after the page is turned.

Nature, romance, regret, and hope weave together throughout the collection, not as fixed symbols but as passing apparitions. A moment by the roadside becomes a meditation on choice. A lover's absence becomes a landscape. Memory bends time, and time bends back. Nothing is fully explained, yet everything feels deeply felt. The poems resist certainty, inviting the reader to sit with ambiguity, to recognize themselves in what is unsaid.

As If in a Dream is not a book that demands interpretation-it invites presence. It asks the reader to slow down, to listen inward, to accept that some truths only arrive sideways. Like dreams themselves, these poems may fade at the edges, but their emotional imprint remains, quietly insistent.

This is a collection for night readers, for travelers between chapters of their lives, for anyone who has ever woken with a feeling they couldn't name but couldn't forget. Burns offers no conclusions-only echoes, images, and an open hand-leaving the reader suspended in that fragile, luminous state where poetry lives: as if in a dream.
