Aswang: SHADOWS THAT FOLLOWED THE GALLEONS: A Historical Compilation of Aswang Encounters That Haunted Spain, America, and the Islands They Conquered (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798275804010)

For centuries, the history of the Philippines has been told by conquerors-cut, rewritten, and stripped of context. But beneath the edited pages lies a truth older than any empire: the shadows of the archipelago were never conquered... and some of them followed the colonizers home.

This book reveals the documented encounters of Spanish missionaries, Filipino villagers, Mexican settlers, American soldiers, and Pacific sailors who all described the same terrifying patterns:
creatures that walked like humans but fed like predators, beings that hunted breath, blood, and viscera, and shadows that migrated silently along the galleon routes that connected Asia, the Americas, and Europe.

Through vivid narrative reconstruction built from 16th-20th century records, folklore archives, and colonial accounts, this book explores:

• The ancient origins of the aswang in pre-Hispanic Philippines

• The 250-year Manila-Acapulco galleon trade that may have carried more than cargo

• Missionary diaries describing "night demons" that did not match European lore

• Mexican and Latin American sightings identical to Philippine creatures

• American soldier encounters in Capiz, Samar, Alaska, and the Great Lakes

• The rise of "new" foreign cryptids whose timelines trace back to Philippine contact

What emerges is an unbroken chain of fear that crosses oceans-suggesting that the world's modern monsters may not be native at all... but migrants carried unknowingly by colonizers who underestimated the shadows of the islands they invaded.

This is not a fantasy novel.
It is a historically grounded inquiry into what happens when ancient creatures meet global trade, empire, and war.

Prepare to see history differently.
Prepare to follow the shadows the galleons left behind.
