Virginia Moonstone Mazzetti knows that some would find it insane to uproot from a life in Washington State and start over on a plot of land in Mexico. Most people could never imagine doing something so daring.
But she's found others who have done the exact same thing themselves.
In Mexico, Mazzetti has met like-minded souls. These women have been in Mexico anywhere from two to fifty years. Each has unique reasons for moving there, but they all share the same courage and determination. And now, none of them ever plan to leave
Through twenty interviews, Mazzetti explores the reasons for their odysseys and the peace, happiness, and adventure they have found in their new homes. She focuses on the desert peninsula of Baja California. The isolation has given the locals a pioneering, persevering spirit that Mazzetti can't help but admire in her new town of Todos Santos. It is that same spirit that is shared among her friends and interview subjects.
Mazzetti and her friends graciously invite you into their homes and will inspire you to start your own adventure to destinations unknown. You're never too young or too old to completely transform your life
Virginia Moonstone Mazzetti received her bachelor's degree in dance from UCLA and taught dance for over twenty years. She spent her early adulthood with a "back to the land" collective in Washington State. She helped the group form a village and raised her three children in a self-sufficient, sustainable lifestyle.
After her children left home, Mazzetti caught her own wanderlust. She left Washington to move to Baja, Mexico. She loved it so much that she bought a half acre of land, built a five-hundred-square-foot house, and started planting. She's been living in her beautiful home for seventeen years and has no intention of leaving anytime soon.
Mazzetti is now seventy-one years old and is looking forward to making her debut as an author. She also enjoys good conversation, time spent with her children, and her plants. Mazzetti has a permaculture design certification and turned her desert lot into a sea of green.
