Les Gardonyi was born in Budapest, Hungary and, as a refugee, emigrated to the United States with his parents when the 1956 revolution broke out. Influenced by his mother's emotional readings of Hungarian poetry during childhood and the freedom of the American verse, he has been constantly "sketching" poems throughout his "human conditioned" life. After graduating from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, he worked in downtown Manhattan -where, yet another political cataclysm on 9/11/2001, caused an emigration of sorts to occur. He presently resides in Oceanside, New York -no further plans to emigrate.
