Dr. Steven Wyre has been a student of the brain and learning as well as teaching philosophy, religion, and critical thinking for over 30 years. Since 2001, Steven has been teaching and working in the capacity of assisting non-traditional adult educators become better at the art and science of teaching. Since 2006, he has worked as the Director of Academic Affairs of the Chattanooga campus of the University of Phoenix. The drive to better understand how the brain functions and how learning occurs led to Dr. Wyre's first book, Physical Mysticism: The Brain and Mystical Events. This understanding of learning led to doctoral studies of the relationship between critical thinking, metacognition, and epistemological beliefs. The results of this research are published in a book of the same title. Dr. Wyre resides in Northeast Georgia with his wife and three sons, while continuing to research the learning process.
