She became internationally well-known for her two volumes of memoir, Are You Somebody? and Almost There, and a novel, My Dream of You, all featured on the New York Times bestseller list. She studied at University College Dublin and Oxford University, taught, traveled and worked as a TV producer for the BBC and Radio Telef? ﾉireann.
