Go beyond quick fixes, toward meaningful change.
When we feel overwhelmed by pain, difficulties, and mental health challenges, the seductive allure of a "quick fix" is tempting. We grasp for fast-acting remedies--escaping through substances, chasing social media "likes," or seeking more material possessions--that rarely meet our deepest needs. Beyond Quick Fixes transcends simplistic solutions, offering a comprehensive, research-informed, and deeply compassionate framework for meaningful transformation.
Drawing on decades of professional expertise and life-changing personal experience, Dr. Birkhofer reveals that true well-being is not found in fleeting quick fixes. It is cultivated from a foundation of essential capabilities developed from within. The quality of our inner life affects everything--our moods, behaviors, relationships, self-esteem, and sense of fulfillment. Dr. Birkhofer guides you in developing fundamental resources that will upgrade your inner operating system:
- A healthy sense of self
- Effective, adaptive coping strategies
- Vital emotional, mental, and relational capacities
This book serves as a trustworthy roadmap for you to understand yourself, learn how your mind operates, and become an informed, empowered agent in your own life. You'll learn to move beyond quick fixes and cultivate the necessary foundation for better mental health and a fulfilling life.
Dr. Celeste Birkhofer is a licensed clinical psychologist and adjunct clinical faculty member at Stanford Medical School, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
