God has mapped out the way to live in victory, righteousness, holiness, faith, peace, joy, love, and so forth. Ultimately, He wants us to exemplify the image and nature of His dear Son, Jesus. In the New Testament, He promised in Hebrews 10:16 (CWSB):

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them.

In a covenant, there are two parties: God and us, his people. Once we become His children, we must draw near to Him in a living and loving relationship. In that relationship, we must seek His presence to get the most out of that relationship. God will do His part, but we must do our part. We must seek Him and His presence with our whole heart.
