xDr. Bob Peddicord is a Pediatric and School Psychologist, who developed Biggie the Bear CARES story lessons to teach young children to calm their emotions so they can tame their tempers and face their fears. Stories also teach lessons for life about: cooperating with others; appreciating kindnesses; respecting rights and feelings; effort-fully trying; and, speaking up before blowing up. Two Character Education grants from the Maine Department of Education funded presentation of these story lessons in selected Maine elementary schools, and other schools requested that Dr. Bob present these stories as part of his work as a School Psychologist. Children are fascinated by the stories from which they learn valuable lessons about getting along with others. CARES Success Skills for Kids is a manual for parents, teachers and counselors. It is available on Kindle and will soon be in book form on Amazon. The manual provides detailed descriptions and explanations of the importance of each of the Success Skills, along with interesting games and incentive programs to promote practice of these skills. It was designed to accompany Biggie the Bear CARES story lessons and also helps adults lead interesting discussions that further promote learning of the Success Skills.
