Hi, I'm Nancy Cupp. I started writing at the age of sixty. Although I dabbled a tiny bit while taking college courses in my early fifties, I didn't set out to become a writer. I was too busy trying to earn a living. I worked a few factory jobs but ended up as an over the road truck driver. Trucking provided long hours of thinking time and a lot of story material. It gave me a working knowledge of most of the country's cities and roads. Unfortunately, it didn't allow any free time to write. I drove thousands of miles with stories bouncing around in my head but I didn't try write until I took a break from trucking. A co-worker at a temporary factory job mentioned writing with NaNoWriMo, an organization dedicated to helping people write a novel in one month. I gave it a try finishing my first rough draft in November of 2015. I've been writing nearly every day since. It seems like I re-invent myself every decade or so. In a previous life, I was a runner finishing eight marathons. Before that, I was dedicated to horses. I learned to ride on my family's cantankerous backyard pony, Sparky. I graduated to trail riding, then studied Dressage for years, enjoying the training process. I've taken an early retirement, spending time at home in small-town Minnesota with my wicked, wicked, cat and neurotic dog. When I'm not writing, I can be found tending the weed patch, mowing the lawn, or shoveling snow.
