These Statistical Accounts have been transcribed by Blantyre man, Mr. Paul D Veverka. Born in 1971, Paul is the eldest of 4 children of Josef and Janet Veverka (both dec.) Chairperson of Blantyre Community Committee and owner of charity local newspaper, the 'Blantyre Telegraph', Paul is employed in the construction industry and has an active interest in all aspects of community life in Blantyre. Married, with one daughter, he is also passionately interested in preserving Blantyre's rich history and heritage. To that end, he formed "The Blantyre Project" in 2011 which set out to collate Blantyre's history, not just into books for local good causes, but also to preserve that history online using social media and offline in presentations and displays. At the time of this publication, Paul has already published 4, larger detailed books on Blantyre's history which contain his research and have been received well, in reaches far beyond Blantyre as well as the town itself. "This particularly booklet is a temporary departure from my usual history writing. I acknowledge completely that no real research has gone into the transcribing of these historical accounts. The real credit is to the former ministers who wrote the accounts. They did however, need to be typed up and offered in a lasting publication for sharing which I hope with my added illustrations, are now preserved, interesting and informative."
