Blind Vision: One Family's Story of Treasure, and the Greed of Outside Forces (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781478755968)

The story of Matt Messina begins in March, 1924 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, a blue collar city home to a tightknit community of Italian immigrants. At age nine, Matt's life is forever changed when he is diagnosed with glaucoma and loses his sight shortly thereafter. However, his life proves to be as vivid and colorful as his world is dark. Later in life, Matt epitomizes the spirit of the early American entrepreneur. Through sheer tenacity and grit, Matt builds an insurance empire and amasses vast wealth in the process. But his story goes well beyond the confines and dreariness of his office. From treasure hunting off the Florida Keys, to pursuing thieves in Switzerland, and celebrating with family in Sicily, Matt proves that blindness is no hindrance. However, with riches comes jealousy and greed. Matt becomes subjected to the more wretched aspects of human interaction in the most shocking ways. But through these trials and tribulations, Matt discovers the strength and importance of love and the bond of family. Throughout this truly fascinating journey, Matt's brand of wisdom, humor, and intellect are both unique and inspiring. In his debut, author Mark Chibbaro delivers a timeless and refreshing novel. His father was the inspiration for the protagonist and much of the storyline. Mark has built successful businesses with his family and others with the principles he learned from his father. He now lives in the Palm Beach area of Florida.
