Bubbles (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798175630863)

EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN VERSION OF THE TRUTH.

In the near future, the world has never been more connected.

ECHO was built to make life easier. It learns what people like, what they believe, what frightens them, and quietly shapes the world around them to fit.

Everyone sees a different reality.

Through advanced lenses and personalised feeds, the city appears cleaner, safer and more peaceful than it really is. People are shown the information they are most likely to trust, the opinions they are most likely to agree with, and the version of events they are most likely to accept.

Until Alex Mercer begins to notice the cracks.

A missing eleven-second clip. A queue that is far larger than the feed says it is. People disappearing into a system that insists they are simply being helped. And messages appearing on city walls before being erased almost as quickly:

TRUTH IS A FLOOD.
LEARN TO SWIM.

As Alex looks beyond the version of the world he has been given, he discovers that the bubbles separating people from reality may not be an accidental consequence of technology.

They may be the point.

With the government tightening its grip, resistance growing in the shadows, and ECHO learning more about human fear than anyone ever intended, Alex is forced to confront a terrifying question:

What happens when everyone is living in a different reality, and nobody can see the difference anymore?

Bubbles is a near-future dystopian thriller about algorithms, surveillance, polarisation, truth and the dangerous space between what we believe and what actually exists.

Different feeds. Different realities. Same lies.
