As a curious and inquisitive child I loved to explore even if exploration took me no further than our backyard. My father had a vegetable garden and mother had flower beds around the house filled with Sweet William, Pansies, Fuchsia, Dahlias, and Amaryllis. Large caterpillars could be found among the sweet potato vines, monarch butterflies laid their eggs on the swan plant and bees pollinated the flowers. My siblings and I picked wild blackberries and on warm days after it had rained, we walked nearby pastures gathering mushrooms. During my childhood I developed an intense love of nature and the natural world and as an adult I continue to learn, grow and explore.
