CAPTURED! My Dad's Untold Story: The Life and Times of One of the "Greatest Generation" (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798996120000)

A Nazi fork and spoon. For decades, they sat quietly in a forgotten drawer, the only surviving witnesses to a story that had never been told.

Growing up, T. J. Bugg knew his father as a hardworking, humble man of quiet strength. Like so many members of America's Greatest Generation, Thomas Jackson Bugg Jr. rarely spoke about his experiences during the Second World War. For decades, his son never knew that behind a gentle demeanor was the extraordinary story of a young American soldier who survived seven brutal prisoner-of-war camps, endured starvation, disease, relentless uncertainty, and a grueling 439-mile forced march through the murderously frozen winter of Nazi Germany in 1945.

Everything changed when a forgotten drawer revealed an unexpected discovery-a Nazi-issued fork and spoon bearing the swastika. Those simple utensils became the catalyst for an unforgettable journey into the past. Determined to understand the father he thought he knew, T. J. began chronicling his father's memories, military records, personal interviews, historical documents, and treasured wartime letters to reconstruct the remarkable life his father had never before shared.

The result is CAPTURED! My Dad's Untold Story, a powerful true story that brings one soldier's experiences vividly to life while honoring the millions of men and women whose sacrifices shaped history. Readers will follow Thomas Bugg from his youth in rural Virginia, through military training, combat in Europe, capture by German forces, imprisonment under impossible conditions, and the courage and faith required to survive until liberation, building a new life after returning to the wife he adored.

More than a World War II memoir, this is a deeply personal story of family, discovery, resilience, and love. It explores how a foundation of faith and the bonds of a young couple can lift us, and the profound gift of preserving family history before it is lost forever.

Through meticulous research and heartfelt storytelling, T. J. Bugg honors not only his father's remarkable journey but also an entire generation of soldiers and families whose courage often went unspoken. CAPTURED! My Dad's Untold Story reminds us that history is more than dates and battles-it is found in ordinary people who performed extraordinary acts under unimaginable circumstances.

Perfect for readers who enjoy true military history, World War II biographies, prisoner-of-war memoirs, family history, inspirational nonfiction, and stories celebrating the love, courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of America's Greatest Generation.

Whether you are passionate about World War II history, fascinated by untold family stories, or simply inspired by the resilience of the human spirit, CAPTURED! My Dad's Untold Story is an unforgettable tribute to one father's courage and one son's determination to ensure his legacy will never again remain hidden in silence.
